Another Butterfly Page

I received another butterfly fat book page through the post yesterday. It is from Caro and it is gorgeous, I particularly like the stamping on the background.

When finished these fat books are going to be spectacular.

It is another miserable, wet day here today so I'm staying firmly put indoors in the warm. I need to make a birthday card for an order and I've also got 70 birthday invitations to make, so I've got lots to keep me occupied!

Butterfly Fat Book Pages

I have been receiving swaps for the butterfly fat pages I made and sent a few weeks ago. The swap doesn't close until June so it may be a while before I have 14 pages but the ones I have already received are simply stunning.

It is great to see the techniques others have used and the different ideas people have come up with. I thought it would be nice to share the pages with you as they arrive, there are photos of the pages I have received so far below:

I have been working on scrapbook pages and have been busy cutting out lots of bits and pieces for the layouts. As soon as I get around to putting it all together and finishing some pages I'll show you.

First scrapbook page for ages

Hope everyone is enjoying the weather, we woke up to a thin covering of snow this morning but it soon disappeared and the weather is just grey and overcast now. Glad I stayed in the warm yesterday, I managed to make a scrapbook page, the first page I've made in months.

Some friends had their first baby in 2006 and I made them a scrapbook for their sons first year as a present. They had another baby in February so I am making another. I will make it with spaces for them to add photos as the year goes on. I have finally got around to making the first page which is below.

This is the same as the first page in the original scrapbook but the rest will be different, just go to think of enough ideas. 1 page done 19 to go!

I'll keep you posted with my progress.

Fairy Fat Book Pages

Well I know I said I'd post pictures of the fat book pages as I went, but once I started I couldn't stop!

I've finished all 14 pages and am quite happy with them. They are all decoupage and most have about 5 layers.

Here is a picture of all my finished pages:

I think I'm just going to stay in the warm for the rest of the day. We've had snow on and off here all morning but it's not settling at all. The wind is still blowing so the warm craft room sounds very appealing.

Hope everyone is having a good Easter weekend.

Been a bit quiet

Sorry I've not posted for the past few days. I've not been feeling too well and haven't been crafting at all.

I've signed up for the new fat book swap on the Card Making & Papercraft Forum. This time we have the theme of fairies. I have a load of decoupage sheets ready for this and all I need to do now is sit down and cut everything out. If I finish any today I'll pop back and post some pictures.

In the meantime, hope everyone is having a good week and looking forward to the long weekend.

More butterflies!

Hope everyone is having a good weekend so far.

When my mother took the card I made, (and showed you earlier in the week), into her work colleague, another lady saw it and asked if I would make a card for her. She asked for - 'similar but different, still with butterflies' . I made the card today, there is a picture below.

Enjoy your evening

Not much to report today!

Had one of those days today when you're rushing about and yet don't seem to accomplish much at all. I spent my morning in Tesco trying to exchange a DVD recorder which I bought from them less than a month ago and which died last night. I did manage this in the end but not without a lot of arguing or should I call it gentle persuation of the staff! My afternoon has been spent, amoungst other things, sorting out a group swap which I have organised on the Card Making & Papercraft Forum, posting photos of everyones amazing ATC's and then putting them all in envelopes and posting them.

I did have a spare half an hour so I sorted out the store of ATC's I have made and have found some to put on the forum to swap later. I am a huge fan of the Art Nouveau period and have used this as inspiration for many items I have made. Here a a few of the ATC's, they all have images drawn by 'Mucha', a famous painter of the period. They are a collection he drew entitled 'Seasons' and each depicts a different season.

Butterfly Fat Book

I have been busy recently making fat book pages. I had never even heard of a fat book let alone made one before it was mentioned on the Card Making & Papercraft Forum. Not one to turn down a challenge and with the lure of trying something new I signed up to the first swap with butterflies as the theme. 13 other people signed up which meant I needed to make 14 fat pages.

Fat pages are 4 inch square and are decorated on the front and to a lesser extent the back. The idea is you receive one page from each person in the swap and then bind these into a book.

I struggled with ideas for the first page, it seemed such a strange size to be working on, larger than the ATC's and smaller than the cards I am used to. However, once I started there was no stopping me and I made all my pages over 3 days. They have all been sent off and I am now eagerly waiting for pages to arrive here.

Here are the fat book pages I made for the swap.

New to blogging

I'm new - be kind! This is my first attempt at a blog. I hope to keep up to date and post here as often as I can. I love crafting and have my own business designing and making wedding stationary, party invitations and greetings cards.

I love trying new things and will be sharing my creations with you through this blog.

I hope you enjoy reading this and will come back and visit often.

Just to get started here's a card I made yesterday for a lady my mother works with, she needed a card quickly for her sisters birthday and my brief was to make it pink and pretty. I was happy with the card and she seemed very pleased, although I would have liked to have spent a little longer on it.

Thanks for visiting
